This event is designed “by alums, for alums,” offering actionable strategies for every life stage—from recent grads to those planning for retirement.
Our expert panel of Simmons alums will discuss:
- Strategies for saving for advanced degrees.
- Navigating major life milestones (home ownership, family planning).
- The power of compound interest and debt management.
- Tactical tips for building investment confidence.
Meet the Panelists
Manjula Nair ’00, ’01 (MAT), ’14 (MPhil, Columbia University)
Manjula Nair has taught high school and college mathematics since 2001. Currently, she is a high school mathematics teacher, dean, and co-chair of the department at Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School in New York City. Manjula and her colleagues have curated a personal finance module that gives all seniors experience with budgeting, debt, and savings. She loves efficiency, getting a good deal, saving for retirement, and eating quality chocolate. In her spare time she enjoys fancy cocktails and spending time with her family and friends.
Lynne Marino ’81, ’02 (Master’s, Pace University)
When it comes to money, Lynne Marino is passionate about educating women and their families to take control of their finances. Simplicity and ease of doing business are essential to a strong client relationship. Lynne’s goal is to make complex financial language understandable so clients are empowered to make smart decisions about their money. Lynne’s approach addresses each client’s unique financial situation. She works with affluent baby boom women, their families and their employees.
Lynne relocated from Wilton, Connecticut to Palm Beach Gardens, FL in 2017 to be closer to her family. Although she is deeply rooted in the Fairfield County, Connecticut community, she is now enjoying Florida in the winter and Michigan in the summer. Lynne is a former chorister with the Choral Society of the Palm Beaches and the Treblemakers in Wilton, CT. She is also a Sustainer member of the Junior League of the Palm Beaches. As a Sustainer member of the Jr. League of Stamford Norwalk, Lynne was a Judy Mahoney Award recipient for community leadership. She’s an avid golfer and member of the PGA National Women’s Golf League as well as the White Lake Golf Club Women’s Golf League. Lynne is proud to be a living kidney donor and she volunteers her time educating organizations about kidney health.
Lynne holds the Series 7, Series 66 FINRA registrations as well as Life and Health Insurance licenses. She is also registered to offer Long Term Care through the Connecticut and New York Partnership Program.
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in 2007, Lynne held management positions with AT&T and IBM. Lynne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in management and finance from Simmons College in Boston, MA. She also has her Master of Science degree in information systems from Pace University in New York. Lynne and her husband enjoy being empty nesters who occasionally watch their ‘grand dog’, Monte.

Kelly O’Connell is a strategic entrepreneur, investor, and advisor with a proven track record of scaling a 9-figure consulting practice and helping organizations secure over $250 million in grants, non-dilutive capital, and venture funding. As Managing Partner at 360 Venture Collective, Kelly invests in and advises early-stage startups, driving strategic growth and operational efficiency. In her role at ON ITS AXIS, she helps enterprises navigate transformation and achieve sustainable success. Kelly’s expertise in funding strategy, innovation, and business scaling makes her a trusted partner for companies seeking to unlock new opportunities and drive measurable results.
